ABOUT THE PAINTING... This painting shows a brilliant sunlit autumn scene near my studio that I always visit every fall to photograph and just look at. It's called Gibb Road. It looks like a private driveway but is actually a dead end public road lined with ancient maple trees that someone thankfully once planted on each side many, many years ago. They are now dying but provide incredible colours every year. Shown are some of the newer pine trees that are replacing the old maples there. I used all the cadmium reds and yellows and other paints I own in this work to try and duplicate the incredible colours that day. |
