ABOUT THE PAINTING... "Abandoned Farm" is a somewhat sad but colourful portrayal of what is happening to many farms in Ontario. It's the remnants of what used to be once a thriving productive farm and now nature is reclaiming the land and the buildings again. The maples were in flaming bold oranges and reds that contrasted nicely against the grey overcast, while the three fruit trees to the left are now overgrown and unpruned. The field of wild meadow plants (mainly Goldenrod) had a golden glow where (by lucky chance) a beam of light shone through the overcast clouds. The rusty red tin roof was the perfect compliment to the scene. Many a fence post is missing and long gone on the fenceline.
